ATEN to present the best KVM solution for server expansion at 2004 CeBIT

New KM0432 4 Console, 32 Port Matrix KVM Switch enables control of up to 4096 computers

Taipei, March 16th, 2004 - ATEN International Co. Ltd., a leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions for the IT industry, today announced the release of the KM0432 4 console, 32 port Matrix KVM Switch, engineered to give IT administrators total control of up to 4096 computers.

The KM0432 represents the most practical method for controlling large numbers of computers for continually expanding enterprises. ATEN's innovative design supports up to 4096 computers by daisy chaining multiple KM0432's together while also cascading multiple 8 or 16 port KVM switches from each KM0432 unit. By daisy chaining and cascading in tandem, this generates an exponentially high number of computers which ATEN has skillfully organized into segments across the installation for optimal administrative efficiency. Enterprises can now effectively increase the number of administrators, as well as the volume of equipment within the server room based on their immediate needs.

In addition to flexible scalability, ATEN has crafted this new design to allow complete administrative independence from within the topology. Four users can directly control 32 computers and efficiently manage 512 computers simultaneously over the same administrative segment, while also permitting 4 super administrators the ability to share this control and the ability to float between each branch of 512 computers. This administrative independence streamlines installation management while upholding departmental privacy and internal security.

The KM0432 accommodates all 32 ports on the rear of the unit in addition to dedicated chain in/chain out ports in a 1U high rack mounting case, saving expensive real estate in any IT environment. The KM0432 also supports multiple platforms (PC, Mac, Sun and Linux) using CAT5 to PS/2 and CAT5 to USB adapters. This switch allows any type of console to control any type of computer, whether it is USB or PS/2.

" Today's enterprises experience steady growth from new employees and expanding server rooms; a continuous demand for new and reliable multiple console access to computers is paramount to optimal MIS administration ," says Michael Yang, Associate Vice President at ATEN International. " The addition of ATENs KM0432 Matrix KVM Switch within a server room provides enterprises with limitless versatility for future expansion and administration of their computers. Each enterprise can customize the administration of their server room, permitting the most flexible solution to managing each computer according to the needs of the installation ."

The KM0432 package contains one KM0432 Modular Matrix KVM Switch, one rack mount kit, four rubber stands, one power cord, one user manual, one Quick Start Guide and one warranty registration card. Additionally, live firmware upgrading ensures the long life of each KM0432.
About the KVM Switch

KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console. Before the development of KVM switches, the only way to control multiple computers from a single console was through a complex and costly network. Now, with the KVM switch, people can easily access multiple computers or platforms (from 2 to up to 4096) in a convenient, space saving and cost effective manner.
