ATEN to Announce Successful Deployment in Polish Public Radio

Warsaw - June 09, 2004 - ATEN International Co. Ltd., a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions for the IT industry, today announced the deployment of ATEN CE220 KVM ( Keyboard, Video, and Mouse ) Extenders and Video Splitters VS-92A and VS-94A in the Headquarters of Polish Public Radio in Warsaw. Utilizing ATEN's devices, most of the powerful and noisy radio computers have been placed in a few, separate rooms outside the studio now, while desktops are equipped with KVM consoles only. The work of sound directors, journalists and the technical crew became much more efficient and comfortable. They can now produce the radio program and get full access to applications without any disturbances.

Polish Public Radio, established in 1925, is the country's oldest radio station. Today Polish Public Radio is a group of separate radio programs nationwide: Program 1, Program 2, Trojka, Radio BIS, Radio Parlament, and Radio Polonia for foreigners. It is the biggest and most popular Polish radio. Polish Public Radio provides round-the - clock broadcasts everyday. The different radio stations offer various programs ( political, music, talk shows, news, etc. ), targeting different audiences.

IT specialists from Polish Public Radio faced a lot of challenges, mainly related to the quality of the radio signal. Nowadays radio program production is computer based and IT technologies will support edition and preparation of sound tracks even more in the future. " Production and emission of radio signal is a difficult process " says Mariusz Kotapka, head of the Polish Public Radio technical department. " We see strong demand for absolute silence in editors' rooms and studios. Unfortunately computers make a lot of noise when running." Unexpected noise disturbs the work of sound directors and journalists. Studio crews searched for solutions which would both enable the usage of PCs in the studio and guarantee complete silence. Thus, Polish Radio's IT managers decided to install KVM solutions, to separate big and noisy processors from the terminals.

The technical department of Polish Public Radio can now take care of radio signal and program production much more efficiently. Gathering the main radio PCs in safe, separate places outside the studios facilitates administration and maintenance. Damages can be fixed in one place, without the need to stop the radio program which results in considerable time savings for the technical team. There is also a separate room for computers, ready to work in emergencies. Additional computers ensure continuation of broadcasting in such cases.

IT specialists from Polish Public Radio installed also ATEN Video Splitters ( VS-92A, VS-94A ) to visualize VGA, and to display images on up to three monitors in the studio. The studio team can now take better control over the radio signal and produce the program more efficiently, since the same screen is available on all monitors simultaneously. " Editors in the studio can work comfortably since ATEN CE22O Extenders and Video Splitters have been deployed. They have a quiet work environment and enjoy more free space on their desktops now." said Mariusz Kotapka " We gathered all PCs in a few, separate places, and technical staff from Polish Radio can contro l computers by LOCAL/REMOTE switches easily with more efficiency than ever."
About the KVM Switch

KVM ( Keyboard, Video and Mouse ) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console.
Before the development of KVM switches, the only way to control multiple computers from a single console was through a complex and costly network. Now, with the KVM switch, people can easily access multiple computers or platforms ( from 2 up to 4096 ) in a convenient,  cost effective manner.

About CE220 KVM Extenders

Aten Cat5 KVM Console Extender System allows access to a computer system from a remote console (keyboard, monitor, and mouse), it is perfect for factory and construction sites, or any type of  installation where the console needs to be kept in a conveniently accessible location, but you want the system equipment to reside in a safe place - away from dust, dirt, and harsh environmental influences.   System can be up to 150m from the console. The Aten Console Extender System is also useful for control and security purposes, where you can have the system unit in a secure area at the same time that you put the console in a location that offers convenient access. The Aten Console Extender provides the ideal means to access the remote system box; since it improves previous designs by using inexpensive Category 5 cabling makes for a much neater, more convenient, more reliable data transfer connection.

About ATEN 2 Port and 4 Port Video Splitters

The Video Separator is a signal booster and splitter that is used to take video input from a single source and direct it to two ( VS-92A ) or to four  ( VS-94A ) video outputs for monitors using analog signals. The signal boost obtained by using the VS-102 or VS-104 allows you to not only   split the signal but to extend the distance so that you can send the signal to about 64 m. ATEN Video Splitters are suitable for SVGA, VGA, and Multisync monitors This makes public broadcasts from a single computer very feasible. If you want to display the same information on many monitors at once, such as in a classroom environment, or at a demonstration, this product performs incredibly well. You can use the very high resolution setting of 1600 x 1200 in 24 or 32 bit true color mode at a refresh rate of 70Hz.
