Successful Deployment of ATEN LCD KVM Switch In Polish Super Computer Holk
 
ATEN INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions for the IT industry, today announced the deployment of ACS-1208AL, the 8 port Slideaway LCD KVM Switch, in Holk - the biggest computer cluster in Poland that is running in TASK IT Centre in Gdansk city.


Established in 1992, TASK ( University Computer Network in Gdansk city ) connects local networks of more than 20,000 computers in Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia cities. TASK also provides telecom and IT services for the University and enables the access to all clusters, which are powerful computers with huge performance, for the users. The cluster contains separate computer units, operating as one powerful and fully integrated machine. Holk is the biggest cluster in Poland and has a power of 1 TFlop. The Polish scientists, such as physicist, engineers, chemists, and others, are now able to conduct complex analysis and studies much more efficiently and faster then ever.


The cluster Holk includes 128 servers with 256 processors. IT managers faced the problem of providing a reliable and efficient way to control all the servers in the cluster Holk environment. Thus ATEN's ACS-1208AL has been chosen as the most suitable solution that provides a convenient and reliable administration. Thanks to ATEN's ACS-1208AL, IT administrators from TASK can now easily and efficiently control the entire IT system without moving from one room to another within the University building

The installation of ATEN's ASC-1208AL is very fast and easy. The device also provides Auto Scan feature to control all computers in Holk. The " Hot Pluggable "feature enables plugging and unplugging the computers without resetting the system. A two-level password security ensures only the authorized users - up to four users and one administrator with the separate profiles - are allowed to access the IT system.

KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console.
