Taipei
- April , 2005 - ATEN International Co.
Ltd., a leading designer, manufacturer and
distributor of advanced connectivity solutions,
has announced the availability of a new
customized ALTUSEN solution - Serial over
the NET (SN0108/SN0116) in Europe, which
offers powerful new capabilities and will
revolutionize remote server management.
The ALTUSEN series introduces the new SN0108/SN0116
Serial over the NET that provides remote
serial access to a maximum of eight (SN0108)
or sixteen (SN0116) servers or serial IT
devices, such as hubs, routers, or power
management devices. Up to 8 or 16 users
are able to log into Serial over the NET
simultaneously through LAN, WAN, and Dial-up
or direct terminal connection.
With the advanced IT infrastructure today,
increases the need for administrators to
control and manage complex environments
with heterogeneous servers, routers, switches
and other devices. This is where IP-based
KVM and serial console management tools
are so productive. They help IT professionals
restore service and fix device-related problems
without ever having to come into direct
physical contact with the actual devices.
" As enterprises increasingly rely
on the network infrastructure to communicate
crucial information, IT managers face a
growing necessity to keep networks free
from downtime. ATEN's new powerful enterprise
solutions are ideal for companies with branch
locations such as banks, government offices,
as well as ISPs, ASPs, and centralized or
decentralized data centers where downtime
must be minimized and data transfer assured
in a reliable way, " says Kevin Chen,
CEO of ATEN International.

With
its advanced features and ease of operation,
the Serial over the NET is the most convenient,
reliable and cost effective way to obtain
access to the remote, serial IT devices.
The Out of the Band Configuration (OOBC)
feature allows administrators to use the
RS-232 interface to access SN0108/SN0116.
Through this application, administrators
can manage all the devices attached to the
SN0108/0116 locally or through dial-up Modem
access. SN0108/0116 supports various connections,
such as TCP/IP, UDP/IP, Telnet, SSH, SSL
and PPP.
The SN0108/0116 is equipped with internal
and external user authentication methods
and port-specific access rights. The administrator
can set different access rights to all or
individual ports to specific users, allowing
for customized security. Eight or sixteen
users can access each port individually
and simultaneously. Login security is port
specific and supports secure multi-user
and multi-level login.
