Taipei--January, 2006
- ATEN INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. leading designer,
manufacturer and distributor of advanced
connectivity solutions, today announced
its new remote server management solution
PN9108 Power Over the NET of the ALTUSEN
Over the NET product line for unlimited
power management. The 8-port PN9108 is a
stand-alone control unit that provides remote
power management for 8 AC outlets via a
TCP/IP connection, allowing administrators
and users to control the power off, power
on, and reboot status for each attached
device from any computer connected to the
Internet. Additionally, ATEN introduces
the PN0108 Power Over the NET, a control
unit that offers remote power management
for up to eight devices such as computers,
hubs and routers, when used with other ATEN
or ALTUSEN IP-based products.
The administrator can use the GUI from
any computer that is connected to the Internet
browser, and monitor the installation current
status remotely. With Out of Band Configuration
(OOBC), administrators can use RS-232 interface
to access the PN9108 Power Over the NET
and remotely control the power off/power
on/reboot of the connected devices. Any
server connected to an AC port on the PN9108
can be restarted and shut down individually
without affecting other servers connected
to the PN9108. The built-in over current
protection and recovery saves corporate
users' money they otherwise would spend
for costly onsite service calls.
"The PN9108 is a practical and affordable
power management solution for data centers
with a large number of servers. It is ideal
for network administrators who need reliable
24/7 server room access." says Kevin Chen,
President of ATEN International. "This advanced
remote management solution offers administrators
high flexibility to access their server
rooms at any time. They can immediately,
extensively and effectively deal with any
situation that might occur."
A daisy chain construction with up to 15
additional stations enables administrators
to control as many as 128 servers in one
installation environment. As the PN9108
provides special built-in ports for daisy
chaining there is no risk of losing outlets.
Moreover, the device disposes a built-in
serial port for backup modem communication
and supports three administration methods:
Windows client, Java client or Telnet/HyperTerminal.
As today's enterprises continuously streamline
their data center and extend their Internet,
intranet and extranet infrastructures, space-saving
server solutions are becoming even more
essential to keep costs at a minimum. Due
to its compact and ingenious design, the
PN9108 fits perfectly in a 1U rack unit
and offers easy access to both the front
and the rear connections on the unit. The
uniquely adjustable front panel enables
administrators to detach it and conveniently
mount the device in any rack depth, making
the installation of PN9108 quick and simple.
To setup the PN9108 the user simply needs
to plug in the right cables. No additional
software is required. The advanced SSL 128-bit
security standard and built-in features,
such as automatic port ID identification
and password protection, guarantee safe,
convenient, fast and effective operations.
In addition, ATEN introduces the power
management platform, PN0108 Power Over the
NET, to protect the already done investments
and maximize the benefits of customers'
existing comprehensive IP-based connectivity
products. The PN0108 is a cost effective
power management extension to other ATEN
IP-based products, such as CN-6000, or PN9108,
KN9116, SN0108 and SN0116 of the ALTUSEN
family.
