KL1116's Innovative Dual Slide Design Displays LCD Monitor Even With Server Rack Door Closed

Taipei - July 17, 2006. ATEN International, leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced an innovative addition to its LCD KVM series. The new ALTUSEN KL1116 Hideaway™ LCD KVM Switch incorporates a 16-port KVM switch in a Hideaway™ console with 17'' high-resolution LCD monitor, keyboard and touchpad. The KL1116 sports an innovative dual-slide design that allows the console to slide back while the LCD panel remains in plain sight -even with the server rack door closed - to monitor and troubleshoot servers. Through daisy chaining of up to 31 additional compatible KVM switches, 512 servers can be controlled.

"Our new KL1116 Hideaway™ KVM solution provides data center administrators with powerful server access coupled with the convenience of viewing the LCD monitor while the keyboard and touchpad are tucked away neatly in the rack,"said Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. "The KL1116, in addition to its innovative dual-rail system, offers a space-saving and cost-effective KVM solution that is certainly a boon to administrators overwhelmed by cable and hardware clutter."

The KL1116 offers another unique feature of dual console management. In addition to the integrated KVM console, a second PS/2 console can be added easily via the rear ports tat allows two users to manage any server on the KVM installation. The KL1116 is optionally shipped with the "Easy Installation Kit." This feature enables a single person to install the LCD KVM switch in an easy and convenient way, and considerably simplifies the rack mounting process.

About the KVM Switch

KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console. Before the development of KVM switches, the only way to control multiple computers from a single console was through a complex and costly network. Now, with the KVM switch, people can easily access multiple computers or platforms (from 2 to up to 4096) in a convenient, space saving and cost effective manner.
