ATEN Presents New IP-Based KVM Switch for Remote Server Management

KN2108/KN2116 KVM Over the NET&™ solution allows IT administrators to access and control servers from anywhere, anytime

Taipei, Taiwan, November 6th, 2006. ATEN International, leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of advanced connectivity solutions today introduces the ALTUSEN KN2108/KN2116 KVM Over the NET™ for flexible on-site and remote administration of multi-platform servers. The 8-port KN2108 and 16-port KN2116 KVM Over the NET™ switches allow three administrators - one at a local console and two via LAN, WAN, or Internet from any IP connected web browser - to securely monitor, manage and troubleshoot 8 to 16 connected servers respectively.

The KN2108 and KN2116 KVM Over the NET™ combine analog and digital KVM switching for an effective data center management: they provide analog access on site and remote access via LAN, WAN or the Internet. The remote access of the installation is protected with advanced security features, such as password protection and sophisticated encryption technologies (1024 bit RSA, 56 bit DES, 256 bit AES, 128 bit SSL).

With the complete CPU modules, the KN2108 and KN2116 offer an ideal solution for multi-platform support and cross-interface environments, including PS/2, Sun, USB, and serial servers. In addition, KN2108 and KN2116 feature the Panel Array Mode function that supports multi-session viewing of 4, 9 or 16-Window On Screen Display, and allows administrators to monitor and control up to 16 servers simultaneously. With the high performance video capture algorithm, whether administrators view one server or sixteen, the display is always be sharp and responsive.

" The KN2108 and KN2116 KVM Over the NET™ are efficient and affordable management solution for companies with multi-platform server farms in need of state-of-the-art remote administration", says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. "A consistent browser-based management interface gives administrators the freedom to manage their installations from wherever they are connected to the network, thus enabling them to respond to any occurring problem in real time. With mission critical systems there is no time to wait for an administrator to rush to the data center."

The KN2108 and KN2116 are in 1U of rack size with an adjustable front panel, which allows administrators to stretch the KVM to fit any rack length, and install the device from either front or rare side of the rack. The Cat 5 cabling further simplifies the cable management and reduces space in the server room.

About the KVM Switch

KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console. Before the development of KVM switches, the only way to control multiple computers from a single console was through a complex and costly network. Now, with the KVM switch, people can easily access multiple computers or platforms (from 2 to up to 4096) in a convenient, space saving and cost effective manner.
